Ingredients
1 cup Vedanna Kalanamak Rice
2 cups water
1 tbsp oil or ghee
1 small bay leaf
1 small cinnamon stick
2–3 cloves
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 medium onion (sliced)
½ cup mixed vegetables (carrot, beans, peas)
Salt to taste
Fresh coriander (for garnish)
Cooking Method
- Step 1: Prepare the Rice
Rinse Kalanamak rice gently and soak it in water for 20 minutes. Drain and keep aside. - Step 2: Sauté the Spices and Vegetables
Heat oil or ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and whole spices, then sliced onions. Sauté until lightly golden, add mixed vegetables and cook for 2–3 minutes. - Step 3: Cook the Pulao
Add soaked rice, salt, and water to the pan. Mix gently, cover, and cook on low flame until the rice is soft and water is absorbed. - Step 4: Rest and Serve Turn off the heat and let the pulao rest for 5 minutes. Fluff lightly with a fork and serve warm.
