Ingredients

  • 1 cup Vedanna Kalanamak Rice

  • 2 cups water

  • 1 tbsp oil or ghee

  • 1 small bay leaf

  • 1 small cinnamon stick

  • 2–3 cloves

  • 1 tsp cumin seeds

  • 1 medium onion (sliced)

  • ½ cup mixed vegetables (carrot, beans, peas)

  • Salt to taste

  • Fresh coriander (for garnish)

Cooking Method

  • Step 1: Prepare the Rice
    Rinse Kalanamak rice gently and soak it in water for 20 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
  • Step 2: Sauté the Spices and Vegetables
    Heat oil or ghee in a pan. Add cumin seeds and whole spices, then sliced onions. Sauté until lightly golden, add mixed vegetables and cook for 2–3 minutes.
  • Step 3: Cook the Pulao
    Add soaked rice, salt, and water to the pan. Mix gently, cover, and cook on low flame until the rice is soft and water is absorbed.
  • Step 4: Rest and Serve                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Turn off the heat and let the pulao rest for 5 minutes. Fluff lightly with a fork and serve warm.
